FAQs

Where is your dental practice?

Our practice is located at 139a Fencepiece Road, Hainault, Ilford, Essex IG6 2LE and is situated close to public transport. Unfortunately we do not have our own car park but there is plenty of street parking near by.

How do I make my first appointment?

You can just call our practice and you will be answered by one of our receptionists who will help you make an appointment which is convenient to you. They will also try and help should you wish to make any other enquiries.

What will happen on my first visit?

On arrival you will be greeted by our friendly receptionists who will ask you to fill in a questionnaire which asks about your medical history and any concerns you may have about your teeth and their appearance. This of course will be treated in the strictest confidence. Once this is completed you will be asked to accompany your dental nurse to the surgery. Having met your dentist you will be seated and made comfortable and the dentist will then begin your check up. This involves looking around your mouth checking for decay and the condition of your gums and of course making sure there are no signs of oral cancer. Jaw joints will also be checked. The dentist may also take x-rays and, if agreed, will then clean your teeth. Should any treatment be required you will be given options of treatment plans and detailed estimates of cost will be provided.

I am disabled. Is your surgery easily accessible?

All our surgeries are on ground level and there is a ramped entrance with a handrail. However, unfortunately, due to narrow door ways access to the surgeries and toilet is restricted.

I am a nervous patient. How can you reassure me?

As all of the staff at our practice have worked in dentistry for many years we are fully aware of how daunting a visit to a dental surgery can be especially when you are anxious. We pride ourselves in being patient and understanding and try to facilitate your needs however we can. We encourage patients to bring in personal stereos or anything which may help calm them. For instance children may have a favourite toy. We can also offer pre-meds which can be taken before your visit or for the very nervous we can also offer conscious sedation.

Will it hurt?

We always take all precautions to make sure your treatment is as comfortable as possible. This includes allowing you to stop the dentist at any time, that is safe to do so, should you need to rest or you have a concern. This leaves you feeling in full control during your treatment. As the practice likes to try and be up to date with modern dentistry we are always on the look out for anything that make s your time with us a more pleasant one. One such device we have purchased is called a vibroject this is used when an injection is required and greatly helps reduce any discomfort. A topical anaesthetic is also available for cleanings and injections.

I am a nervous patient. Can you help me?

Of course we can. Depending on how worried you are we can arrange for a visit where you can just chat with the team and see if you are happy and comfortable with the practice. If you decide to have your treatment with us we make sure you are fully informed of all the proceedures and that you never feel rushed while you are with us. If it helps we are happy for you to bring in an ipod etc to use during your time in the chair. We are always on hand to discuss any queries or concerns you may have. Should you still feel that being in the dental chair would be too much for you we also provide sedation which allows you to have your treatment and not be aware of anything that would cause you anxiety.

Can I drive after treatment?

This all depends on the treatment you are booked in for. The majority of treatments just require a local aneasthetic and therefore it will be fine for you to drive. The only real exception to the rule would be if you require sedation this requires you to be picked up by a relation or friend and we advice that you do not drive for 24 hours.

How much will it cost?

Prices can be requested over the phone or at reception and treatment cost will always be explained to you on the day of your consultation and a printed itemised estimate given to you.

Can I pay in installments?

This can, on some occassions, be arranged but at the discretion of the dentist

If your question has not been answered please do not hesitate to phone the surgery and we shall be happy to try and help.
